The Ice Master

We bought a groupon for a local outdoor ice skating rink.  Easton is always up for an adventure, so we headed out as a family.  David and Easton started on the rink.  He tried a double skate blade to start.  I seriously think it took them 15 minutes to make it around the little circle.  We decided to switch to a single skate blade.  I went around the rink with Easton the second time.  I assured him that if he took a lot of quick little steps he would survive.  I think we cut the lap time down by more than half.  I can't say that he ever really got the hang of it (no gliding), but he did a good job trying.  Here he is by lap 5 or 6...at from the looks of it, at least he was enjoying himself!

Piggyback

When David gives the boys a piggyback ride, there is a fight over who gets a turn.  Today, Cache and Declan won!

Sleepy

It's been a while since I've had a baby fall asleep in the highchair, but I guess I took a little too long getting Xander to bed today!

Dinosaur Park

We have a great park called the Dinosaur Park.  There are several playgrounds that sprawl over a large area.  The twins are finally getting coordinated enough to climb around and play.  They especially loved a little firetruck.

Bath Time

Bath time at our house is crazy.  Usually more water gets splashed out of the bath than stays in it.  Fortunately, we have a huge bath!

  

First Steps...

Ok, so I didn't exactly capture the first steps this time around.  Both babies started walking at 15 months.  Not that 15 months is 'behind schedule', but I've been told twins learn to walk later than singles.  Both Easton and Cache learned to walk at 12 months.  If I had put money on which baby would walk first, it would have been Declan.  He seems to be more adventurous and coordinated than Xander.  However, it was in fact Xander who walked first.  Xander was walking pretty efficiently by the time Declan learned (probably 2 weeks later).  Now that both babies have been walking for almost 2 months, you can't really tell the difference.

Boys will be boys...

The boys love to play in the dirt.  This picture was taken right before Cache dumped a bucket of dirt on his friend's head!

Anyone who lays down on the floor is fair game at our house.  Be prepared to get attacked!

Learning Lesson

I try to do a 'learning lesson' every day for the boys, which means I usually end up doing one a week (if I'm lucky).  This week was inspired.  Cache knows all the Star Wars characters but can't seem to identify his colors.  Today I took a bunch of different color puzzle cards and had him go through the house and match the colors to something he could find.  For Easton, we worked on reading simple 3 letter words.  We made a shopping list and gave him a bag.  He had to go through the house and put things from the shopping list into his bag.  Both lessons worked quite well and they both had a lot of fun with it.

Valentine's Day

We had a nice Valentine's Day.  The boys spent a couple of days making Valentines for friends.  I wanted to do some cute craft I saw in a magazine, but we ended up just coloring hearts that were cut out of paper.
For the boys, we got Easton some Pokemon cards and Cache a Land Before Time Movie and made them each a card.  We also got a waffle maker from Costco (the turning kind) and had waffles, strawberries, and whipped cream for dinner.  It was delicious!

ipad

The latest thing heard at my house is...'Mom, you're my best friend.  Can I play the ipad?'  They sure learn young!

Cache has finally figured out angry birds (flinging them in the correct direction) and is enjoying a racing game called Sonic.  Here he is taking a well deserved ipad break.  How could I say 'no' after being told I was his best friend?

Killer Babies

I've been on the receiving end of the twins' attack.  Even for a grown adult, it can be quite debilitating.  Easton and Cache get attacked on a daily basis.  I can already tell Cache has his work cut out for him as the middle child....tortured by Easton and double teamed by the twins.  Fortunately, he still enjoys the friendly attacks and is quite gentle to the twins.

There is also a lot of baby-to-baby attacking.  Declan always attacks with his mouth.  You can almost count on Xander having a bite mark on him somewhere.  Xander is starting to realize his size and tends to either push or sit on Declan!

Cupboards

The twins have especially enjoyed the cupboards lately.  Their favorite part is opening and closing doors and emptying the contents.  Declan loves to climb inside everything.

Rough, Tough, and Sweet too!

In addition to all the sword fighting, hitting, and tackling... our home has a lot of cuddling.  It is usually a rough kind of cuddling, but it works!
