June 2018

I had visions of saving the earth with these little grabber contraptions from Costco.  The truth was, they played with them for an hour around the house, broke one, and I returned them (along with my dreams of making a difference)!

Yep, sometimes I actually make the things I pin from Pinterest.
I volunteered to help with the 5th grade end of the year party and thought this would make a fun addition.

5th Grade end of the year awards.
A long and painful process of comparing your child to those around them.

Loving Easton for who he is!

Easton's glasses sun tan line.

Declan's photography.  We always love the little goats at farms.

Our cute neighbors are Muslim and celebrate Eid Mubarak (which is like our Christmas).
They gave us these yummy chocolates, an amazing fruit tart from Wegmans, and the twins a lego set.
So sweet of them to share their traditions.

Here is proof I started the summer out strong!
I always have really high hopes for myself, and gradually (ie. daily) lower the bar.
The twins had scout camp this week, which left me with the big boys.
Today we took our Kayaks to Cunningham Falls for a little adventure.
We were afraid the seaweed would eat us, but alas, we survived!

Day 2 of adventure:  We went on an off trail mountain bike ride.
It was really cool until we totally got lost, ended up in Trumps Golf Course, and had to walk our bikes up the steepest hill EVER.  But alas, we survived again!

My friend, Megan Hendrick, visited from Africa.  Let's just say I was not expecting her at the door!  She came for an interview at the embassy.  She was so awesome to bring treasures from Africa.

Love this.

And these big boys too!

Bad shadows, but some sort of monster attacked Cache's back.

This week, Easton is at overnight scout camp.
I took the other boys to a fun petting zoo in Reston.
This giraffe was awesome.  It's long tongue picked up the leaves of lettuce and bamboo and these teenage girls were so kind to share with the boys.

I have to teach the boys kindness, their natural instinct is definitely the 'hunter' mindset.

See what I mean?!?!

The 'safari' ride.

We bought 1 stick of bird feed and found leftovers from the discard pile to continue to fun.

What you do when the bird won't come to you!

Again, we spent the most time around the cute baby goats!

My personal favorite...Lemur Island.

Cache is really into cars lately.  The family he hangs with now is really into cars so it has rubbed off onto him.  Every time we are in the car, we point out all Porche, Mustang, Tesla, Charger, Corvette and any other cars that are fancy.   His favorite is the Lamborghini.  We have SO MANY nice cars where we live it's crazy.  I suppose it doesn't hurt that we have these car dealerships!  I think these are all Maclarens (which he loves too!)

Cache loves a good spoiler.

As though June couldn't get any better...we finished the month off with a trip to Chuck E Cheese.
I don't know what it is, but my kids absolutely love this place.  Chuck E Cheese just started this new system as well (if only they would replace the awful paper ticket system with it!).  Instead of coins, you buy an unlimited swipe pass for a certain amount of time.  The boys had 1 hour for $10, which they definitely maximized.  They didn't play any video game type of games - they played every chance game and took note of the ones that gave out the most tickets.  I mean, who doesn't want all the 'amazing' prizes you can buy at Chuck E Cheese?!?!

Here is Xander winning the 150 ticket bonus.

Cache totally monopolized this game.
