Cache 4th Birthday

We started off by going to the dollar store to get party supplies.  Cache got present #1...a roll of gum tape.  I think he ate the whole thing at once.

Next we made the birthday cake.  Cache was excited to help.  I realized this meant he was excited to eat all the candy while I made it!

We invited all the boys from his preschool class (and one girl!).  The kids were really great.  We had a pirate theme and made all the kids pirate hats, treasure bags (with gold coins and chocolate), and played suitable pirate activities.  We started off the night with BBQ hot dogs.

Pin the patch on the pirate.

Relay races with pirate hooks.

Digging for buried treasure.

And of course, cake and presents.

September

The boys enjoying a nice picnic dinner on the patio.

Cache loving Declan.

A visit to the Dulles Air & Space Museum.  Only 25 minutes from home and free parking if you go after 4pm (otherwise it's $15).

Xander and Sarah checking out the new Discovery Space Shuttle.

The twins loved running around for a while...then of course insisted on being held!

Easton and his best buddy, David.

Declan showing off his amazing double nose-picking skills.

Cache and his best buddy, Jacob.

Easton loves being the center of the twins' universe, and the twins love following him too!

Every good activity that involves the twins ends in a dog pile.

Xander tackling Easton.

Xander in timeout.

One bite for Xander, one bite for the duck.

It is hard to capture, but the twins often enjoy copying each other...here are a series of pictures that try to show the twins being twins!

Sitting on their knees, looking up at each other, laughing...repeat

Notice their matching poses...

Sitting by each other drinking their sippy cups...

Sitting on each side of the couch...

Standing on the blue chair and pushing it over and over and over...

Playing in the curtains together...

Climbing and jumping off, again and again.

Declan fortunately did not break his neck on this one...

Even a little kiss...

Cache has always been an action figure kid.  He loves his Imaginext people...especially Robin, Superman, Flash, and Spiderman.

The twins seem to have an internal need to climb up on everything in the house.

The big boys often fight over which baby gets to sit by them during a show.

Easton spends 5-6 hours at David's house every Friday for an on-going playdate which usually involves a lot of computer games, and a little legos.  David's family often invites him to the park and other special places.  When I hear he is not on his best behavior, he has to write notes of apology.  I don't know if it works, but I enjoy his slight embarrassment when he has to hand it over to David's mom!

Four newly-cleaned boys, enjoying a movie and a bowl of popcorn, and quite content.  These are the moments we live for!

Cache the carpet cleaning man.  We were giving our spot cleaner (a $10 garage sale purchase) a good workout on our living room floor.  I think it's time to buy a full-size carpet cleaner!

Easton 'patiently' waiting for his turn on the ipad.  How has my $500 ipad turned into a kids toy?

More and more, the twins are insisting on eating at the big table.  I'm pretty ok with this, but not ready for the mess they make without their high chair.  I'm sure both Easton and Cache were eating at the table by this age...but it was only 1 mess to clean up.  Two messes seems to put me over the edge!

We bought a crate of oranges at Costco and they were ok, but not super great.  Easton decided to make orange juice out of them...what doesn't taste delicious with a cup or two of sugar?!

Xander is really into buckling his own seat belt.  I can barely pull him out of the car because he likes to go around to all the seats and buckle them.  I decided to pull this chair out of storage for him to practice inside!
