What?!!! David's 40th Birthday!
It was suppose to be filled with dodgeball games and friends...but when combined with a business trip and ... well ... life .... he got dinner and cake with the family.
Easton's first piano recital... a little nervous on song 1, but nailed song 2.
The cute box turtle Cache found... named Bob. He was a great turtle.
Very friendly and sociable for a box turtle.
Also very smart...he escaped passed our baby play yard. He went from crack to crack until he found one big enough to escape through (the corner joint where we didn't have the bar installed).
We will miss you good buddy!
Breakfast of champions.
Cinnamon & sugar toast with strawberries / bananas with whipped cream.
Spoiled? I think so.
In one of my more domestic moments I decided to tackle caramel apples. The kids brought home a 'how to' from preschool, so basically I had to make it. I must say...it looked and tasted amazing!
We used sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, pretzels, kosher salt, smashed m&ms...yum!
We decided it was hard to eat on a stick, so I started slicing them.
Basically they just ate the delicious caramel and candy and left the apples.
Next time I will skip the apples and let them dip spoons in the caramel.
Cache caught this great tree frog in our backyard.
He had very sticky feet.
(hello...I guess this is one way to get myself in a few pictures!)
I love the next 2 pictures taken by Easton...
Spring time = Bird nests in the corners of our front porch.
Since I couldn't lift the boys up and David wasn't home, I installed a permanent place to view the eggs and baby birds.
Easton also took these...
Frogs caught from the little run-off by our new community park.
Easton's container of caterpillars.
Xander and Declan getting ready for preschool.
I must admit, they are pretty cute!
The baby bird from the nest. Should we hold baby birds? No.
Did Cache do it anyway...well see for yourself.
He loved that baby bird.
Then it flew into the tree and he spent the next hour trying to reach it
(thankfully his attempts were unsuccessful).
Cute Xander.
Me.
My new thing to cook is chicken quarters. I get them for 99 cents a pound at Sams Club.
The meat is so tender and delicious.
Spring school pictures. I didn't realize they would still take their pictures (although I bought nothing). They sent home these proofs and I couldn't help but scan them :)
More candid pictures by Easton...

Another fun (or not so fun) aspect of Spring...Black Rat Snakes.
We tracked this big snake through our neighbors yard, then our yard, and then we finally got it back into the forest. Then it went back into our neighbors yard. We got a few of the teenage boys to catch it and take it deep into the forest.
Our annual Memorial Day trip to Virginia Beach.
We went to First Landing State Park to catch crabs.
...and as the sun set we caught frogs...
As usual, we loved the trip and enjoyed beautiful weather.
