August 2015

I love a good deal.  I really love free, but when it's not free, I love a good deal.
When I went to Wegmans this morning, their chicken breast was marked for 99 cents a pound (the price of chicken drums).  I searched through the stack to find whatever was marked incorrectly and bought everything.  The total:  $24.66 for nearly 25 pounds of chicken!

Not every man can pull of speedos, but Declan can.
He is accessorized by a laser tag gun we got at a garage sale.

In June, Easton's class planted a few seeds in a cup and brought them home.  We put them in our planter and he actually grew his own little crop.  I don't think we would even try one, but he was proud of his green thumb.

Xander loves me.  He probably loves me more than anyone in the world.  Yes, even David would have to get in line.  Occasionally, Xander forgets how much he loves me when I tell him 'no'.  This particular time he decided to express his dislike artistically.  I'm the person in the middle.  The big cross through it - well, you get the idea!

Yeah for new friends!  Our great friends, the Tikalskys, just moved in down the street.  They are actually our old friends - they moved when these three were born and have been living in Mexico City the last 3 years.  Tyler fits right in with the twins.

Time for our annual camping trip at the beach.  We love camping at First Landing State Park.  This year they allowed us to reserve a campsite.  I thought I had reserved my coveted site, but it turns out I reserved the wrong one!  It actually worked out great.  We were the closest site to the beach entrance which made all the back and forth pretty easy.

These guys are pretty excited to be here!

The Easton photo-shoot...

I captured brother cruelty.  As Cache was showing me his cut tongue, Easton threw a bunch of pine needles at his face.  No getting out of this one Easton!

No trip to the beach is complete without a walk through the creepy forest.  It reminds us of the training scene of Luke Skywalker and Yoda.  We now know to bring containers and nets to catch all the toads.

I was trying to capture how cool David looks.

Snake skin...where there is snake skin, there are snakes!

My boys.

Our captives.
(all were let loose before getting back into the car)

Back to camp where we found more creatures...

I think this is called a blue-tailed skink.  The tails are more blue when they are infants.

I love this picture.  This is the epitome of car camping.  My car looks almost life-like in this picture - like it is going to go on a hike.

The cutest boy ever.  Such blue eyes and cute smile.

The Beast.  We have an awesome tent now - no more leaks.
It was tested on this trip one night and we stayed totally dry.
We all fit in here with assorted sleeping pads.

...part boys, part monkeys.

Back home we wrap up the end of summer and get ready for school.  We sneak in a few amazing boxes of peaches from a local food stand.  My friend picks up a big box of 'seconds' for $18.  Yum!

Easton - 3rd grade / Cache - 1st grade

Meet the neighbors.  Happy first day of school!

Our Balls Bluff tiger mascot.

Easton has a fun 3rd grade teacher named Mrs. Piercy.  She is from Louisiana and talks like it.  He has a few friends in his class including our new/old friend, Natalie Tikalsky.

Cache has a sweet first year teacher named Ms. Rolland.  He is sitting by his best friends, Noah and Grayson.  Hallelujah for a easy transition to 1st grade.

The walk back with the younger siblings - the twins and Skye.  Skye actually starts kindergarten this year - she is exactly 1 year older than the twins.
